street-painting-01Copilărie…

street-painting-01Childhood… Sounds nice, right? What beautiful memories! A lot of fun… Purity and innocence… I think it’s the most wonderful time… It’s so sad that passes so quickly. It’s pity that is not what it used to be…

Although it is a mistake to compare generations, I will do it anyway. Childhood to those before me, but also mine, it was about friendship. About going outside, playing, socialization, communication, dreams and desires… Now most of the kids prefer to have virtual friends, to stay locked up in the house in front of a screen which washes their brains.

street-painting-02Those children are retiring into a shell and are afraid of people. They lose their childhood and life playing some computer games which, eventually, did not help them. It is true that these games relaxes you but also transform you into a lonesome guy.

When I was little I went out all day, playing with the ball in front of the block or doing street painting. If I wanted to have someone to play with, I just knocked on their doors. I had problems only at math, I didn’t know what suffering is and I knew nothing bad.

street-painting-03I was always ready to play, but the now kids? Do they know what it’s like to play with the ball all day long? Do they know what’s hopscotch, jumping rope, hide&seek? Or they know only about the newest computer game? The more technology advances the more we know fewer and feel less…

We spend our lifetime locked up within four walls instead to run free outside.

  1. I totally agree. You were fortunate not to have grown up in front of a screen. It would be better if people limited ‘screen time’. Of course, I say this while looking at a screen. But I try for moderation. Good post. Cheers, Monica! =)

  2. I totally agree. Kids have no idea what it is like to enjoy real games anymore. They have banned many of the games we used to play because they consider them dangerous; they can’t be outside w/o parents because of the world now; they are always in their electronic devices instead of in the fresh air. It’s a very sad thing and why as adults they can no longer communicate well, have addictions and can’t sustain lasting relationships…just my two cents.

  3. I hope new generation is not that hopeless. In fact, young parents are in search of something new now as I might notice. They try to make children go out and socialize. So, I do believe it’s not that hopeless. You already feel the problem and many of us, so there is a good chance to change it, am I right?

    • Yes, you are, Ann 🙂
But I know a lot of parents who say: “My kid is so good. He is always in front of the computer. I am not afraid that my kid will be hurt when he/she plays games outside with other kids.”
That mean a good child for them 😦
      Let’s hope for the best!
      Have a beautiful Sunday, Ann!

  4. Floare a primaverii. ❤

  5. I grew up like you, playing outside with any number of twenty or more friends and I agree, that many kids today spend far less time outside and they appear to know little without google or Wiki to tell them. A great write, Monica!
